01Restorative Dentistry

When teeth need more than prevention, we restore them

Even with excellent home care, teeth can be weakened, damaged or lost over time. Decay, fractures, infection, gum disease and the everyday wear of chewing can all take a toll on the strength and comfort of your smile.

As your restorative dentist in Clearwater, Dr. Jason Kopakin offers a complete range of treatments to repair damaged teeth, replace missing ones and bring your smile back to full health. Our office uses advanced materials and technology — including CEREC same-day crown fabrication and Solea® laser dentistry — for restorations that are durable, natural-looking and precisely fitted.

Whether you need one small repair or a full-arch restoration, you'll get a clear plan, honest guidance and care that's built to last.

Insurance, membership and financing for restorative care

Most dental insurance plans provide partial coverage for restorative treatment. Basic procedures such as fillings are usually covered at a higher percentage than major work like crowns, implants or root canals.

Boulevard Dental accepts all PPO dental insurance. Our front desk team verifies your benefits and reviews your estimated costs before treatment begins. No insurance? Our membership plan includes 20% off most procedures, and flexible financing is available.

New patients & emergency appointments are welcome.

05Questions, answered

Restorative Dentistry FAQs

Still have questions? Call our Clearwater office at(727) 799-4897.

01How do I know if I need restorative dental treatment?

Common signs include tooth pain or sensitivity, visible cracks or chips, dark spots on the teeth, a loose or lost filling or crown, swollen or painful gums, difficulty chewing or a missing tooth. Some problems, like early decay or hairline cracks, cause no symptoms at all — which is why regular exams with your restorative dentist in Clearwater matter. The earlier we find a problem, the more conservative the treatment.

02Is restorative dental treatment uncomfortable?

Our Clearwater office is designed around your comfort. Local anesthesia is used for procedures that involve tooth preparation, and our Solea® laser lets us treat many cavities without an injection. Mild soreness for a few days after treatment is normal and usually managed with over-the-counter pain relievers.

03How long do restorations last?

It depends on the treatment. Composite fillings typically last seven to fifteen years. CEREC crowns and porcelain inlays and onlays last ten to fifteen years or more, and bridges average ten to fifteen years. Dentures usually need relining or replacement every five to ten years. Dental implants can last twenty years or more — often a lifetime. Good home care and regular visits are the biggest factors in longevity.

04Will my restorations look natural?

Yes. Every restoration is color-matched and crafted to blend with your natural teeth. We use high-quality composite resin, porcelain and ceramic materials that mimic the shade, translucency and texture of natural enamel.

05Can I have several restorative procedures done at once?

Often, yes. Our team frequently coordinates multiple treatments in one appointment or across a sequenced plan. CEREC lets us place same-day crowns, and laser dentistry can treat several cavities in one visit without separate anesthesia.

06What's the difference between a filling, inlay, onlay and crown?

Each addresses a different level of damage. A filling treats mild to moderate cavities. An inlay or onlay is used when damage is too large for a filling but the tooth walls are still sound — an inlay restores the central surface, while an onlay also covers one or more cusps. A crown covers the entire visible tooth when damage is more extensive. We always recommend the most conservative option that will work.

07What happens if I don't replace a missing tooth?

Neighboring teeth begin to drift into the gap, your bite changes and the jawbone in that area starts to shrink. That can alter your facial appearance and put extra stress on your remaining teeth. Replacing the tooth promptly with an implant, bridge or partial denture prevents these problems.

08Does dental insurance cover restorative treatment?

Most plans provide partial coverage, which varies by plan and procedure. As a restorative dentist in Clearwater that accepts all PPO insurance, we verify your benefits before treatment so you know your estimated costs. Uninsured patients can join our membership plan for 20% off most procedures.

  • “I recently switched to Boulevard Dental and Dr. Kopakin. I have to say I was very pleased with the experience. The office space is very relaxing and the staff capable and friendly. Dr. Kopakin reassured me that a filling I was told was needed did, in fact, not need attention. It's very important to feel one's medical provider is competent and trustworthy. Dr. Kopakin fits that profile.”
