01Solea Laser Dentistry

No drill. No needle. No anxiety.

For many people, the hardest part of dental care isn't the treatment — it's the shot, the sound of the drill and the dread leading up to the appointment. If fear or a past bad experience has kept you away, you're far from alone.

Solea® has changed what treatment feels like. Dr. Kopakin uses it to treat cavities, reshape gum tissue and address a range of soft tissue concerns with a level of precision, speed and comfort that conventional instruments can't match.

Our laser dentistry in Clearwater may be the breakthrough you've been waiting for — a way to get the care you need without the parts you've always dreaded.

03Our approach

What a Solea® visit actually feels like

Reading about laser technology is one thing. Here's what most patients experience in the chair.

  1. 01

    No injection

In the vast majority of cases, there's no numbing shot. You simply sit down and we get started.

  2. 02

    No drill sound

Solea® is nearly silent compared to a conventional drill — and that alone puts many anxious patients at ease.

  3. 03

    No vibration or pressure

The jarring pressure and vibration of drilling are gone. Most patients feel very little during treatment.

  4. 04

    Mild sensation at most

Some patients notice a light tingling or warmth. Many are genuinely surprised by how little they felt.

  5. 05

    Back to normal right away

Without anesthesia, there's no post-appointment numbness. You can eat, drink and speak normally as soon as you leave.

04Solea Laser Dentistry

Ideal for anxious patients and children

Dental anxiety keeps many adults away for years, sometimes decades, letting small problems grow into root canals, extractions and bone loss. By removing the drill and the needle, Solea® makes it possible for many of these patients to get care comfortably and without fear.

It's just as transformative for kids. Fast, quiet and comfortable treatment helps children sit calmly, and a positive early experience can shape their relationship with dental care for life.

06Questions, answered

Solea Laser Dentistry FAQs

Still have questions? Call our Clearwater office at(727) 799-4897.

01Is Solea® laser dentistry in Clearwater really anesthesia-free?

In the vast majority of cases, yes. Convergent Dental's clinical data shows Solea® is used without anesthesia in over 90 percent of cavity procedures. Individual sensitivity varies, and very deep decay near the nerve may still call for anesthesia. We'll always discuss your options before treatment begins.

02What makes Solea® different from other dental lasers?

Solea® is a CO2 laser operating at a 9.3-micron wavelength, optimized for absorption by both hard and soft dental tissues. Most importantly, it's one of the only lasers that can perform the vast majority of cavity preparations without an anesthetic injection.

03Is Solea® safe?

Yes. Solea® is FDA-cleared for both hard and soft tissue dental procedures and is used in thousands of practices nationwide. We follow every recommended safety protocol, including protective eyewear for you and our team.

04Can Solea® treat all cavities?

It's highly effective for most cavities. Very large cavities with significant structural damage, or decay that has reached the pulp, may need a different approach such as a crown or root canal therapy. We'll let you know whether Solea® is the right tool for your treatment.

05How long does a Solea® appointment take?

Often less time than conventional treatment, since there's no waiting for anesthesia. A single cavity can often be treated in as little as 15 to 20 minutes, and patients needing several fillings can frequently have them all done in one visit.

06Is laser dentistry in Clearwater a good option for children?

Absolutely. Without the needle and the drill — the two things most likely to frighten kids — treatment is fast, quiet and comfortable, helping children build a positive relationship with dental care from an early age.

07I've avoided the dentist for years because of fear. Can Solea® help?

Yes — you're exactly the patient Solea® was designed for. Many patients who avoided care for years have found the experience nothing like they feared. Call us and share your concerns; we'll take all the time you need to feel informed and at ease first.

08Will insurance cover Solea® treatment?

Most plans cover procedures performed with Solea®, like fillings and soft tissue treatments, at the same level as conventional treatment. The laser is the instrument, not usually a separate billable service. We'll verify your benefits beforehand so you have full cost transparency.
